Non-Billable Time is Holding You Back
As lead contractor, or someone switching from wage-slaves to the Creator, what is the biggest thing holding you back from earning what you deserve? If you're like most entrepreneurs, then I'm assuming that that is one thing that you hold back your time on activities that generate revenue is not wasted. Therefore, you need to tracking your time as a lawyer.
Why lawyers are so successful and how to emulatethey
If you do not spend time to a lawyer, you will find that they concentrate on one thing, billable hours. Whether they are in private practice or a large company, the focus is always on how many billable hours squeezed into one days. Although many people like lawyers, this principle can be modified to help you be more successful.
How to Track Your Day
Before you begin, think about the time that you are available to work on "billable" to. Here is what a typicalWeekday and weekend division would look for me:
During the week I had four hours outside of my day's work for "billable" tasks. For me, these tasks: time for writing blog entries, speeches, articles and white papers. Now we use a simple time entry (spreadsheet or free time keeping application) to pursue this as a billable "tasks.
Now spend some time to find out what your "not billable" tasks. Examples from my life are: Avira, television, surfing theInternet, reading, shopping, and with friends. Now do not misunderstand me, the point is not going to stop all these things. The point of this exercise is to give you track what is currently working on revenue compared to non-resident income-producing activities and the development of the habit, on revenue generating habits. The result of wage-slaves to move Creator will help with this habit you keep focusing on generating revenue for themselves.
The next step in this process can only track what you aredoes and what time spent doing it. Then at the end of the week, month, quarter and year, you can use this data to determine what amount of time was spent on billable vs. non-billable tasks. I think that this can be incredibly useful to find out why I am not always in advance in my dream career of public speaking, writing, and coaching.
Last advice
A final piece of advice, make sure that an appropriate amount of billable hours in order to assign the taskbefore you start. For example, if you write in a blog, assign forty-five minutes of billable hours for this position. If it takes an hour and thirty minutes to research and write, bill forty five minutes.
Establishing standard billable time is still a mystery by lawyers, to hold them and to the task of generating revenue. Establishing maximum time for completion of your tasks can be more focused and realize that you can only generate so much revenue from each job. ToRecord in your time management system, take the example blog post. I have forty-five minutes at the post, but it takes me an hour. I surrender forty-five minutes and fifteen minutes as a billable non-billable "task slack time.
Setting up a system to keep you ahead on the generation of revenue is the best thing you can do to generate more income in the coming months.
