I'll just throw this out there now, I have a college education and I graduated from a small town high school. If I have made a decision to take a firm position, I really thought my options, I was able to limit how high up the ladder to go. I would never have me thinking a little green icon on my desktop could have proved so wrong.
In order to improve my position, I taught myself programs of other people in my area did not even want to, and I seeincreased my skills in the programs, our senior management is required. Most importantly, Excel. I've learned to create dynamic charts and discovered ways to tell the financial story everyone needs to see. Not only were my unique graphics, I also have my own personal flair to them. Every glance at a chart would immediately know it was creating by Suzanne. Not only that, once they saw it, they felt confident that the information was correct.
The graphs in question were wonderfulcolored, simply said, and were completely ME! In two months time, I doubled my salary, I got a promotion, and my only ambition in life was to provide data for our executives and to present them to our customers.
As easy as it sounds, there may be an expert in a particular program that is needed at your place of work, set apart not only where you are in, but it can also increase the value where you want to go. For me it was Excel, and graphics. Inot stay with the default maps and colors, and I did not settle for status quo. What I did was, I was a visually apart from all others and always a smile on my face and helped wherever I was needed!
Determine where your company is missing, determine what is needed, and then make yourself indispensable!
